On Sunday, 1st October, 2023, I had the privilege of being awarded the Certificate of Professional Excellence in recognition of the exemplary performance of my students in Accountancy in CBSE Exams 2022-23. The certificate was awarded by the Commerce Teachers’ Foundation (CTF) at their felicitation ceremony “Abhivadan 2023” held at the India International Centre, Max Mueller Marg, New Delhi.
CTF is a not for profit, voluntary organisation established with the prime objective of driving professional excellence in the commerce teachers fraternity . The idea of forming a common platform for commerce teachers was conceived by Dr. Dinesh Madan during an evaluation of CBSE Accountancy answer books way back in April, 2007. The intent was to establish a platform to facilitate professional growth of commerce teachers. This idea was fully backed by the teachers present there. The outcome was the formation of a platform to bring together the commerce fraternity. As a founder member of this platform which initially had 21 members, CTF today caters to diverse needs of commerce teachers at a global level and has more than 750 Lifetime Members and 3800 teachers from schools across India and overseas.
I fondly recall how proud I was when Rachit Aggarwal, a student of mine from Notre Dame School, New Delhi came All India first in the International Commerce Olympiad back in 2014. Being honoured now by CTF for professional excellence, hence, was a moment of even greater pride for me. This award recognised the performance of the whole class who come from different walks of life with many of them being first generation English medium students. This very challenging nature of the job is the reason why this award was so fulfilling for me.
Oh, and before I forget, I also performed in Kuchipudi dance style, a short musical item based on some aspects of the epic Ramayana.
All in all, 1st October, 2023, was a day to remember!
