As a top grade artiste of Doordarshan Kendra, India in Kuchipudi, Ramaa is also proficient in Bharatanatyam. She has given several classical dance performances in India and abroad. She has been featured in the National Program of Dance on the National Network a number of times and most recently in January 2020 which featured a unique item relating to water
conservation.
Ramaa Shankar has been regularly featured in the local Doordarshan TV channels in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Shimla.
Other notable performances include a recital at the National Centre for Performing Arts, Mumbai , Cultural-cum-Food Festival at Bangkok, Cultural Festival at Libya through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and at the India International Centre.
She has been imparting dance lessons to students, conducting dance workshops and lecture demonstrations. She has choreographed many dance ballets for students at school events. The dance items relate to themes from Christmas, Global Harmony to National Integration, Environmental issues and Social evils. Ramaa has also been using dance as a medium to further enhance learning around Principles of Management and Leadership styles.

In 1976, became the first person to be conferred the title of “Natya Tilakam” by Ganesh Natyalaya, New Delhi

Awarded the title of “Singar Mani” by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai in 1987

Recipient of the National Cultural Talent Scholarship and Merit scholarship in 1977 awarded by the Government of India

Appointed as a member of the Central Dance Audition Board in 2008 at Prasar Bharti for Doordarshan’s gradation of artistes.
